This set of six seedlings contains our top hot and super hot varieties that are guaranteed to deliver on heat and flavour.

The varieties included in this set are:

  1. Carolina Reaper (approx. 1,800,000 to 2,200,000 SHUs). The Carolina Reaper has been measured at over 2 million scoville units and is the hottest chilli we currently grow. This chilli was given the 'hottest in the world' title in August, 2013 and was bred by the PuckerButt company in South Carolina, USA. Incredibly, the record for eating three of these fruits is just over 12 seconds!
  2. Trinidad Scorpion (approx. 1,000,000 to 1,400,000 SHUs). These chillies that have been measured at over 1.4 million Scoville Units. The large plant (up to 70cm in a large pot) produces a good crop of 4cm fruits that ripen to a vivid red.
  3. Bhut Jolokia (approx. 800,000 to 1,200,000 SHUs). The first 'Super' chilli! The Bhut Jolokia (A.k.a. Naga Jolokia or Ghost) was officially measured at over one million Scoville Heat Units (SHU) in 2006.
  4. Fatalii (approx. 100,000 to 300,000 SHUs). This variety produces an abundance of bright yellow fruits that have a fruity flavour and intense heat.
  5. Big Black Mama (approx. >1,000,000 SHUs). The Big Black Mama is one of the super hot chilli varieties and was created by Troy Primo (an American chilli grower) and is a cross between the Naga Morich and the Douglah 7 pod. The plant can grow up to a metre tall and is prolific, producing lots of fruits that ripen to a dark rich brown in the mid to late summer.
  6. Mini Meanie (approx. 150,000 to 200,000 SHUs). A unique variety we found a few years ago in our display tunnel and named Mini Meanie - Compact size and Mean heat! A Habanero type chilli that looks similar to 'Fatalli', but on a small size plant. Fruits ripen from green to yellow.

SHU = Scoville Heat Units

Information

We try our best to keep this list up to date. However, if the varieties advertised are not available at the time of packing, the best substitute will be used.

Growers Guide

These chilli seedlings respond well to extra warmth as young plants; 25°C is the ideal temperature.

You can download the growing instructions that are sent out with the seedlings here.

Seedlings will need to be potted on. We recommend using Fertile Fiber peat-free compost. We use this product ourselves and found that it has the best properties compared to all the other pear-free composts currently available. Note that any additional items bought together with pre-order seedlings will be shipped at the same time as the seedlings when they are ready which is normally from March to May.

Shipping

Seeds are sown in Jan or Feb and we start sending our plants as soon as they are ready. Plug plants are usually available to ship from about the end of March onwards. But this is very weather dependent and can vary by several weeks. We will endeavor to notify our customers when the seedlings are likely to be ready closer to the time of shipping.

Two delivery options are available, Royal Mail and DPD, and both offer tracking. However, while the DPD is a next day service, Royal Mail is a 48-hour service, so naturally, the DPD price will will be higher. Shipping prices will be calculated based on the quantity of items in your cart and will be clearly displayed at checkout before you pay. The seedlings can survive for serval days in the post since they are well watered before shipping and a few days without light will not harm the seedlings.

Please be aware that if you place an order that contains a mix of 'pre-order' and 'buy it now' items, your order may be delayed until all items are ready to send. This is because we aim to send your entire order in one shipment. Thank you for your patience.

Please let us know if you have any special delivery instructions at checkout.
