Grown using 100% renewable energy!

The Trinidad Pimento is also known as the Trinidad 'seasoning pepper'. It is the most popular cooking pepper on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago. It turns from light green to dark red or orange red. The elongated peppers can get over 3 inches in length and about 1/2 inch in diameter.

Seasoning peppers are used extensively when making the famous Trinidad 'green' seasoning. This is a marinade which varies from family to family but almost always includes fresh green herbs such culantro/cilantro/parsley/coriander, thyme, onion, garlic, scotch bonnets and of course lots of seasoning peppers. The bulk of the green herbs and often semi ripe seasoning peppers gives the marinade its distinctive green colour as well as its unique aromatic yet fruity aroma and flavour. The marinade is used on grilled meats and vegetables or as a base for soups and stews.

We try our best to have these seedlings ready for you. However, if there are any issues with our stock, a suitable substitute will be used at the time of shipping.

Growers Guide

These chilli seedlings respond well to extra warmth as young plants; 25°C is the ideal temperature.

The plants can be grown in pots or directly in the ground. Pots should be at least 2 litres, but 5 liters and is preferred.

You can download the growing instructions that are sent out with the seedlings here.

Seedlings will need to be potted on. We recommend using Fertile Fiber peat-free compost. We use this product ourselves and found that it has the best properties compared to all the other pear-free composts currently available. Note that any additional items bought together with pre-order seedlings will be shipped at the same time as the seedlings when they are ready which is normally from March to May.

Shipping

Seeds are sown in Jan or Feb and we start sending our plants as soon as they are ready. Plug plants are usually available to ship from about the end of March onwards. But this is very weather dependent and can vary by several weeks. We will endeavor to notify our customers when the seedlings are likely to be ready closer to the time of shipping.

Two delivery options are available, Royal Mail and DPD, and both offer tracking. However, while the DPD is a next day service, Royal Mail is a 48-hour service, so naturally, the DPD price will will be higher. Shipping prices will be calculated based on the quantity of items in your cart and will be clearly displayed at checkout before you pay. The seedlings can survive for serval days in the post since they are well watered before shipping and a few days without light will not harm the seedlings.

Please be aware that if you place an order that contains a mix of 'pre-order' and 'buy it now' items, your order may be delayed until all items are ready to send. This is because we aim to send your entire order in one shipment. Thank you for your patience.

Please let us know if you have any special delivery instructions at checkout.
