Not for the faint-hearted! The legendary Bhut Jolokia, also known as Naga Jolokia or Ghost Chilli, is one of the world’s most famous super-hot chillies. In 2006, it was officially measured at over one million Scoville Heat Units (SHU), making it the first chilli to break the one-million-SHU mark.

Alongside its seriously intense heat, the Bhut Jolokia is renowned for its deeply aromatic, complex flavour, making it a favourite among chilli enthusiasts looking for both exceptional heat and character.

The fruits take time to mature in the UK climate. With a good summer and favourable growing conditions, you can expect the pods to begin ripening from mid to late summer onwards.

Being three times hotter than an Orange Habanero, our suggestion for cooking with these chillies is to use a small amount, very finely chopped. As a rough guide, try ¼ of a pod per person for a hot dish.

Harvest: Starts fruiting about 120 days from potting on as seedlings and under good growing conditions. As with all super hot chillies growing in the UK climate, it does take some time for these fruits to ripen, so with a good summer and growing conditions, this can be anywhere from mid to late summer onwards. Pick when the fruits have reached their maximum size. Fruits ripen from green to red.

Size: Plants can get quite tall, over 1m and will require support.

Pot Plant Packaging

Plants are sent in 1Ltr (13cm) pots. Each plant is securely packaged in a recyclable cardboard box. The pot is wrapped in a biodegradable plastic bag to prevent any moisture from damaging the cardboard box any soil from falling out.

Each plant is hand selected by our horticulturists and carefully packaged. The box is marked with a way up sticker to notify the courier and handlers that it contains live plant material and that it should be handled with care.
