The Aji Red Chilli is a heavy-cropping, easy-to-grow Peruvian chilli variety prized for its distinctive fresh citrus flavour and attractive, abundant fruits. A vigorous plant with a naturally drooping growth habit, it produces plenty of slender fruits that ripen from a delicate translucent yellow-green to a vibrant translucent bright red.

The fruits typically reach around 6–8cm long, creating an attractive display as they mature. Its trailing habit also makes Aji Red an excellent choice for hanging baskets, where the colourful fruits can cascade beautifully over the sides.

The fresh fruits have a distinctive citrus flavour, making Aji Red a wonderfully versatile chilli for adding both heat and freshness to your cooking. Use the fruits fresh in salsas, sauces, salads, marinades, ceviche and Peruvian-inspired dishes, or add them to everyday recipes where a bright citrus note is welcome.

Harvest: Starts fruiting about 120 days from potting on as seedlings and under good growing conditions. Pick when the fruits have reached their maximum size. Fruits ripen from green to red.

Size: Plants can get quite tall, well over 1m and will require support if grown in pots. They can also be grown in hanging baskets.

Pot Plant Packaging

Plants are sent in 1Ltr (13cm) pots. Each plant is securely packaged in a recyclable cardboard box. The pot is wrapped in a biodegradable plastic bag to prevent any moisture from damaging the cardboard box any soil from falling out.

Each plant is hand selected by our horticulturists and carefully packaged. The box is marked with a way up sticker to notify the courier and handlers that it contains live plant material and that it should be handled with care.
