This is a rare and interesting variety that produces olive-shaped fruits that ripen from green to brown and then to a burgundy red. As with all Rocotos these have a thick fleshy wall and contains black seeds. Thet have a fresh fruity flavour which becomes sweeter as it ripens. The stems and leaves have a covering of fine hairs (hence the term pubescens). These hairs tend to help deter pests such as aphids compared to other varieties (but they do still occur). Rocotos tend to be more tolerant of cooler conditions. Although they are not frost hardy, they can tolerate cooler locations. The take a long time to mature similar to super-hot chinense varieties, and sometimes even longer.
These plants can get quite large if given enough space. They will produce less fruits if grown in small containers.
Note that this is a hybrid created by chilli enthusiasts. And as with many new hybrids, there is a chance that the strain isn't fully stable. So there is a chance you may end up with a plant that is a bit different from the original. But this is the exciting part of growing new weird and wonderful varieties that the chilli breeding community produces.
