Mantis Claw Plant
This is a super-hot chilli that was created by a grower called Kevin Bane from a mutation of the Bhut Jolokia. It has a very gnarly and twisted and bumpy appearance and texture. The exact Scoville heat level is unknown, but it is likely to be over 700,000 SHUs. This variety is also not fully stabilised, so there can be variations in the characteristics of the fruits.
Note that this is a hybrid created by chilli enthusiasts. And as with many new hybrids, there is a chance that the strain isn't fully stable. So there is a chance you may end up with a plant that is a bit different from the original. But this is the exciting part of growing new weird and wonderful varieties that the chilli breeding community produces.
Heat level: Approx 700,000 SHUs. Learn about Scoville Heat Units (SHUs) here.
