Fresh Serrano Chillies (6 fruits)

These are a larger variety of the traditional Serrano called Senor - about 3-4", but with the same heat. Used in salsas as a hotter alternative to Jalapeno.

Information

Amount: minimum 6 fruits (but will vary throughout the season).

Colour: usually sold green, but will be red later in the season.

Flavour: distinctive earthy flavour similar to a jalapeno or heatless bell pepper

Heat: 40,000 to 60,000 SHUs

Storage

Fresh chillies keep for a couple of weeks in the fridge. All chillies freeze well and slicing and pickling is another way to preserve chillies.
