The Fish Pepper chilli plant is a striking African American heirloom variety dating back to before the 1870s. Historically grown in African American communities around Baltimore and Philadelphia, these chillies were traditionally used to season fish and shellfish, earning their distinctive name.

Fish Pepper is as attractive as it is useful in the kitchen. Both the plant and its long, pendant fruits can display beautiful variegation, with green leaves streaked with creamy white and chillies striped in green, white and dark shades before ripening to orange-red. This unusual appearance makes Fish Pepper an excellent ornamental chilli for growing in pots, containers or a greenhouse.

All our Fish Pepper chilli seeds are collected from our own home-grown chillies here on the farm and are thoroughly germination tested before going on sale. Every seed variety we sell achieves a 90% germination rate or higher, so you can sow with confidence.
