Add a touch of history and plenty of character to your garden with a Fish Pepper chilli seedling. This distinctive heirloom variety is known for its beautifully variegated foliage and striped fruits, which develop through shades of cream, green and orange before ripening to vibrant red.

A pre-1870’s African American heirloom variety, it was used to season fish and shellfish in the African-American communities around Baltimore and Philadelphia.

Fish Pepper offers a medium heat with a fresh, fruity flavour, making it both an attractive ornamental plant and a versatile kitchen variety. Its unusual appearance makes it especially popular with chilli collectors and gardeners looking for something different.

A very striking ornamental chilli where both the plant and the long pendant fruits can be completely variegated. The leaves and fruit are lined with creamy white and green, with the chillies eventually turning orange-red. These chillies are still very much sought after by cooks.

Information

Harvest: Pick when the fruits have reached their maximum size. Fruits ripen from a variegated green/yellow pattern to red.

Size: Plants can get tall to about 80cm and will require support.

Pot Plant Packaging

Plants are sent in 1Ltr (13cm) pots. Each plant is securely packaged in a recyclable cardboard box. The pot is wrapped in a biodegradable plastic bag to prevent any moisture from damaging the cardboard box any soil from falling out.

Each plant is hand selected by our horticulturists and carefully packaged. The box is marked with a way up sticker to notify the courier and handlers that it contains live plant material and that it should be handled with care.
